Georgians Can’t Trust Jon Ossoff

Georgia is known for many things – peaches, Coca Cola, the Braves, the Bulldogs – and tragically, we’re now known nationwide for the murder of Laken Riley. One of our own was murdered in cold blood at the hands of an illegal immigrant, and Jon Ossoff decided the best he could do was flip-flop on a vote to make sure it never happens again.

The Laken Riley Act, signed into law by President Trump one year ago on Jan. 29, 2025, was built on a simple principle: If someone is in this country illegally and commits a violent crime, our government should detain them, not release them back onto our streets.

Jon Ossoff, however, cannot decide if he agrees. Under President Biden, Jon Ossoff succumbed to the pressure of the radical Left and refused to champion the legislation. To this day, he has not issued a single statement acknowledging Laken’s murder or the act passed in her honor. Yet, when public outrage grew and Georgians demanded accountability, he scrambled to support the bill just in time for his 2026 reelection campaign.

That’s not leadership. That’s self-serving hypocrisy.

As Georgians, we deserve better. We deserve a senator who represents our values – someone who is tough on crime, lowers taxes, and secures our border. Jon Ossoff is none of those things. If we cannot trust him to stand up for what is right when it comes to public safety when the circumstances are clear, we certainly cannot expect him to make tough decisions while keeping Georgia’s best interest at the forefront of his mind when things get rough.

The Laken Riley Act is an example of common-sense legislation that will save lives. It prioritizes victims over political narratives, and it sends a clear message that Georgia will not tolerate policies that put dangerous individuals back into our communities.

Georgians want laws that protect our daughters when they go for a run. They want leaders who put their safety first. And they want senators who don’t wait for polling memos to tell them what’s right.

President Trump didn’t hesitate. He listened to the concerns of law enforcement, victims’ families, and everyday Americans. Then he acted. That decisive leadership is why the Laken Riley Act became law and why its anniversary matters.

But Jon Ossoff did what Jon Ossoff always does. He prioritized his party over people. He picked his Leftist base over Georgians. Our senator should know right from wrong no matter the audience.

On this anniversary, let’s recommit ourselves to honoring Laken Riley’s memory with action, not excuses. And let’s remember who stood firm when it counted and who flipped when it was convenient.
