The Hakeem Jeffries vs. Zohran Mamdani proxy battle in New York last night foreshadows the larger Chuck Schumer vs. Bernie Sanders civil war playing out inside the Democrat Party.
In Maine, Democrat primary voters chose Sanders-endorsed Graham Platner as their nominee over Janet Mills, one of Schumer’s top recruits. Platner, a self-described communist, is campaigning on a policy playbook that would cost taxpayers nearly $150 trillion.
His socialist spending spree includes Medicare for All, a Universal Basic Income, government-funded universal child care, and free public college, forcing Maine families to bankroll a massive expansion of the federal government that encourages fraud and abuse.
“Graham Platner is Maine’s Zohran Mamdani, and Mainers will defeat their radical agenda of crippling tax hikes, dismantled law enforcement, and bloated government spending in November,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Samantha Cantrell.
