Graham Platner’s troubles continue as senior staff departures pile up. Over the weekend, Platner’s National Finance Director and Treasurer resigned bringing senior staff resignations up to four. Platner’s Campaign Manager and personal friend resigned after just four days on the job. His Political Director also departed the campaign and has accused Platner of lying about his controversies and spoken out about being offered payment to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
While Bernie Sanders is standing by him, Platner’s campaign staff is dropping like flies as the Chuck Schumer opposition research dump continues.
Platner’s scandals began after a series of reports revealed his long history of controversial “shitposting” on Reddit including:
- Admitting “I got older and became a communist“
- Dismissing “all” police as bastards
- Saying rural White Americans “actually are” racist and stupid
- Writing that if people “expect to fight fascism without a good semi-automatic rifle, they ought to do some reading of history”
- Downplaying rape commenting, “If you’re so worried about it to buy Kevlar underwear you’d think you might not get blacked out f—-d up around people you aren’t comfortable with”
- Asking why Black people “don’t tip”
- Calling Maine lobstermen “drug addicted maniacs” and “pieces of shit … absolutely terrible people”
- Using homophobic slurs saying, “Betcha not a single down voter is a real combat vet. Feel free to back it up with facts, f*gs.”
It only got worse from there. Since then:
- Platner revealed he had a Nazi SS Totenkopf or “death’s head” symbol tattooed on his chest. After initially denying he knew what the symbol meant, old acquaintances of Platner’s told Jewish Insider and CNN that Platner not only knew what the tattoo meant, but bragged about it. His former political director also confirmed Platner “knows damn well what it means.“
- Platner has also been lying about his working-class roots. The Washington-Free Beacon reported that Platner attended The Hotchkiss School, an elite boarding school in Connecticut that costs upwards of $75,000 a year. Platner’s father has also donated $60,000 to Democrat candidates and causes.
As staff continues to depart, there’s no telling what will come next.
