Rep. Haley Stevens today voted again to ban the sale of gas-powered cars. The bipartisan legislation would reverse the EPA’s waiver grant to California to allow the state to ban the sale of gas-powered vehicles by 2035. Stevens previously voted against legislation that would prohibit the government from banning gas-powered cars.
“Haley Stevens literally shot her Senate campaign announcement video in a parking lot full of gas-powered cars, and now she’s voted for the second time to ban them,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia. “The hypocrisy is stunning, and Michigan deserves a common-sense Senator who will support its critical auto industry instead of threatening tens of thousands of jobs in her state.”
Background:
- A ban on gas-powered vehicles would eliminate nearly 200,000 auto-manufacturing jobs, including 37,000 auto jobs in Michigan.
