The former teacher, Richard Schubart, has admitted to two instances of sexual misconduct and the Exeter police have confirmed that they are investigating four more sexual misconduct complaints.
Understandably – there are questions surrounding the Governor’s relationship with Schubart.
When asked about this controversy by the media, Hassan’s story has changed substantially. She has given at least 3 different answers:
April 1, 2016:
Hassan claimed she thought his retirement and departure from campus was “for personal and health reasons.”

April 2, 2016:
“I didn’t have any specific information I could have shared with staff to indicate taking him off.”

April 5, 2016:
“I should have worked more actively to review my public supporter and steering committee lists and remove him from it and I apologize for that.”

In addition to Hassan’s evolving story, it’s worth noting that if Governor Hassan did not know that Schubart had done something wrong, as she originally claimed last week, then a more thorough review of her supporters would not have resulted in Schubart being removed. Additionally, if Hassan truly did not know, why is she apologizing for listing him as a supporter?
Maggie Hassan owes voters an explanation.
What did she know about Richard Schubart’s sexual misconduct, and when?
