It got us wondering… If Maggie Hassan took a ride in Doc’s DeLorean, which moments in history would she undo?
Maybe she’d try to go back and rewrite her fiscally irresponsible record of hiking up taxes and spending that’s made life more expensive in New Hampshire. That would take a lot of trips…
-
2015: Hassan needlessly vetoed the state budget, throwing the state into months of budget chaos only to cave and give up her reckless political game playing.
-
2009: Despite “unintended consequences” on small businesses, Hassan pushed through higher business taxes at the last minute, in the dead of night, and with no public hearing.
-
Also 2009: Hassan not only hiked up the rooms and meals tax, she also slapped a new tax on campsites by taxing them like hotel rooms.
-
2007: Hassan voted for the first time to hike up vehicle registration fees, making it more expensive to own a car. Then again, she did the same thing in 2009 and tried to do it again earlier this year in a budget she wrote, so she’d need multiple stops in the DeLorean.
- Her entire time in the State Senate: Hassan backed 82 tax and fee increases that became law.
On Back to the Future Day, Hassan’s probably wishing she could go back and rewrite history to change her fiscally irresponsible record that has failed to move New Hampshire forward. Too bad it’s just a movie.
