But surprisingly, that hasn’t curbed Hassan’s busy travel schedule.

The day after filing as a candidate for U.S. Senate, Hassan traveled to New York city to hobnob with wealthy democratic donors.

As reported by WMUR, Hassan was asked why her first official act as a Senate candidate was a fundraising trip to New York. WATCH as Hassan ignores the question, hops into a Lexus, and drives away.

Hassan’s excessive out-of-state travel is in direct conflict with her promise when she announced her campaign in October, stating, “My focus each and every day will be on my job as Governor of the state of New Hampshire, a job I love.”

A day after officially kicking off her U.S. Senate bid, Gov. Maggie Hassan, D-Newfields, traveled out of state Tuesday night and Wednesday to raise funds for her campaign.

There are three fundraisers for Hassan, who filed her candidate papers with the New Hampshire Secretary of State on Monday.

The two-term governor had a cocktail reception Tuesday night at Lowenstein Sandler in New York City, followed by a similar reception at the office of Barbar Laskey Weinreich. The third event, on the schedule this morning, was a breakfast fundraiser at the law offices of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, according to links to the events.

The campaign trip comes as the Republican State Committee and U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-NH, continues to criticize Hassan’s out-of-state travel. Hassan’s campaign, in a voluntary release of its out-of-state political travel, reports Hassan was out of New Hampshire for 10 days in February, eight days in March, 12 days in April, and eight days in May. In many cases, the governor was out of state for just part of the day, and a number of those trips are to nearby Massachusetts.

The GOP, citing a report in the Concord Monitor, is calling on Hassan to repay $42,000 in pay and overtime accrued by her state police security detail for out-of-state travel from February 2015 to March of this year.
