Despite Heidi Heitkamp’s attempts to curry favor with President Trump and the overwhelming majority of North Dakotans who voted for him, Heitkamp’s moderate act is wearing thin.

Look no further than her comments yesterday. Heitkamp was asked by an attendee at an event what grade she would give President Trump, and she responded by saying, “I once said ‘incomplete,’ but I would tell you today I don’t think I’d be that generous.” Given nearly 60% of North Dakotans approve of President Trump, Heitkamp’s stance on the president sits in direct contrast with the vast majority of North Dakota voters. Heitkamp’s opposition to a majority of North Dakotans has become a common trend. Whether it was her decision to keep Obama’s harmful BLM methane rule in place or her continued opposition to President Trump’s nominees, Heitkamp has proven when it comes time for action, she’d rather side with Washington liberals than hardworking folks in North Dakota.

“Heidi Heitkamp’s latest comments show she is completely out-of-touch with the needs of everyday North Dakotans,” said NRSC Spokesman Michael McAdams. “Instead of joining with Washington liberals to oppose President Trump, Heidi Heitkamp should be working to implement the agenda North Dakotans overwhelming voted to support last November.”
