Devoid of a leader and heading into the 2018 midterm elections without a message, red state Senate Democrats are looking to former President Barack Obama and his failed policies to aid their flailing campaigns.
Politico reported that Obama is set to headline a Hollywood fundraiser for vulnerable Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill, which is an odd choice considering red state voters made it clear they want nothing to do with the disastrous policies of the Obama administration. After already voting against the wildly successful Republican tax cuts, Senator Heitkamp is doing everything she can to prove to North Dakota voters that she doesn’t deserve another term. Vice President Pence reminded voters of Heitkamp’s abysmal record during remarks yesterday in North Dakota, which were recapped HERE.
The major question for Heidi Heitkamp today is will she welcome Barack Obama to North Dakota?
“With Barack Obama hitting the campaign trail for red state Dems, Heidi Heitkamp will have to decide whether to bring the unpopular former President to North Dakota,” said NRSC Spokesman Michael McAdams. “Obama’s campaign stops will only remind North Dakotans that Heitkamp supported his failed policies, and that while she votes against President Trump’s agenda, she stood with the former President even as her constituents overwhelmingly rejected him.”
