Bill Nelson certainly didn’t have a stress-free weekend as he watched a key part of his election strategy fall apart right in front of him.

A new poll shows that Governor Rick Scott is far more popular and better known among Puerto Ricans in Florida than Bill Nelson, who’s supposed to have been representing Floridians for almost 30 years. And this poll comes just weeks after Nelson was hit with a brutal article highlighting his lack of outreach to Florida’s Hispanic communities.

As a reminder – just a few months ago, Bill Nelson was encouraging Florida’s Puerto Rican community to register to vote in order to save his reelection chances claiming, “…I can tell you among the Puerto Rican community in the greater Orlando area, they have been very embracing of my public service.”

It sure doesn’t look like it.

“Bill Nelson has been in Congress for almost three decades, yet has completely ignored communities across Florida,” said Camille Gallo NRSC Spokesperson. “Now, Nelson is watching his reelection chances crumble around him as Florida’s Puerto Rican community embraces Governor Rick Scott.”
