The NRSC launched a new television ad yesterday taking Privileged Patrick Murphy to task for his serial lying and embellishment when it comes to his own biography. Murphy was shredded by a two-part CBS Miami investigation last week, which identified numerous false and misleading claims Murphy has made about every key element of his work history before running for Congress.

TAMPA BAY TIMES: “REPUBLICANS ATTACK PATRICK MURPHY’S ‘CAREER BUILT ON LIES’…Republican groups continue to hammer home revelations of résumé embellishment by Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Patrick Murphy. The National Republican Senatorial Committee launched a new TV ad today condemning what it described as Murphy’s ‘career built on lies.’”

TOWNHALL: “BRUTAL: NEW AD DESTROYS RUBIO’S LIKELY OPPONENT OVER FABRICATED ACCOMPLISHMENTS…Murphy’s problem is that he appears to be a serial liar and embellisher of his own paper-thin CV. It seems he hasn’t accomplished much on his own merits, so he’s relied on his family’s money to help bankroll political campaigns in which he boasts about things he hasn’t actually done…The National Republican Senatorial Committee has now turned the investigative piece’s lowlights into a hard-hitting attack ad…The Democrat is flailing and denying, angrily contending that the original report is full of inaccuracies — but a Miami Herald fact-check shows that unlike Murphy’s fairly tale biography, CBS 4’s journalism stands up under scrutiny.”

FLORIDA POLITICS: “That investigative report by CBS Miami’s Jim DeFede on Democratic Senate candidate Patrick Murphy’s business background continues to enjoy added life in the form of a new television commercial produced by the National Republican Senatorial Committee. The ad, entitled, ‘A Career Built on Lies,’ relies heavily on DeFede’s report, which reported Murphy has never been a licensed CPA in Florida, nor a small business owner, contrary to his proclamations since he began serving in politics.”

POLITICO: “The NRSC is spending $45,000 to air a new minute-long TV ad attacking Florida Rep. Patrick Murphy – on Washington, D.C., televisions…The ad is built around a CBS Miami report which found Murphy exaggerated his experiences as a CPA and small-business owner. ‘What is privileged Patrick Murphy hiding?’ a narrator asks before clips from the CBS Miami report appear on screen. The ad then cuts to footage of Murphy saying: ‘Who would embellish a resume intentionally after you’re a member of the U.S. Congress? It just doesn’t add up.’ ‘Privileged Patrick. A career built on lies,’ the narrator concludes.”

THE HILL: “The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) launched a new TV ad on Tuesday targeting leading Florida Democratic Senate candidate Rep. Patrick Murphy over his career. The minutelong ad spotlights the recent CBS Miami investigation that Murphy reportedly overstated some of his qualifications while campaigning for Congress and during his current Senate run. The report says he made misleading or false claims about his experience as a certified public accountant and a small-business owner.”
