TWICE in TWO Weeks, 30-Year Incumbent Holds to Extreme View of Taxpayer-Paid, On-Demand Abortions

Washington, D.C. – Ten days ago, CNN asked Senator Patty Murray whether or not she believes in any legal limits on abortion. She refused.

Fox News asked Murray the same question yesterday. And she refused again:

“Top Democrat refuses to say whether she would accept any limits on abortion”

“Sen. Patty Murray sidestepped questions about what point in pregnancy abortions might be forbidden”

“Sen. Patty Murray on Thursday dodged questions about whether she can support any limits on abortion …

“When asked to clarify whether there are any potential time limits Democrats may consider putting on abortion, Murray again refused to directly answer …

“Murray also deflected when asked about Republicans’ argument that a 15-week limit is consistent with many other developed countries, including most in Europe.”

Once again, this should come as no surprise as her voting record just over the last two years shows how extreme her views are:

  • Abortions Right Up Until the Moment of Birth: Murray not only voted once, but TWICE, for a bill that “permits elective abortions … through all nine months of pregnancy.”
  • Taxpayer Funded Abortions: Murray not only voted once, but TWICE, against Republican measures that would prohibit taxpayer dollars from funding abortions.
  • Denying Care for Babies Who Survive Abortions: Murray voted against a Republican measure that would require health care providers to provide medical care for a baby who survives an abortion.
  • Allowing Abortions for Babies with Down Syndrome: Murray voted against a Republican measure that would prohibit federal funds from being used to abort babies with down syndrome or other chromosomal conditions.

It’s obvious why Patty Murray is trying to paint her opponent as an “extremist”: it’s because Patty is the one with extreme views out of step with Washington State voters.
