MIA Maggie Hassan had no problem defying the will of Granite Staters as a superdelegate for Hillary Clinton.

Yet when it came time to vouch for Clinton’s honesty and trustworthiness, Hassan refused three separate times.

The cringe-worthy interview forced Hassan into damage control mode:

New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan said Tuesday that "yes," she thinks Hillary Clinton is honest and trustworthy — the day after the New Hampshire senate candidate declined to say so in a CNN interview.

We’re not sure which is worse: Maggie Hassan’s initial refusal to say whether she finds Hillary Clinton to be honest and trustworthy or Maggie Hassan’s subsequent admission that she does, in fact, find Hillary Clinton to be honest and trustworthy.

As a must-read New Hampshire Union Leader editorial explains to Hassan, "…if anyone asks you if Hillary Clinton is honest and trustworthy, the correct answer is ‘No.’"

CNN’s Manu Raju this week asked Gov. Maggie Hassan if Hillary Clinton is honest. Hassan refused to answer.

Here is her evasive response, in her own words:

Manu Raju: Do you think that she is honest and trustworthy?

Maggie Hassan: I support Hillary Clinton for the presidency because her experience and her record demonstrate that she is qualified to hold the job.
Raju: Do you think she is honest?

Hassan: She has, um, a critical, critical plan among others for making college more affordable.

Maju: But do you think that she is trustworthy?

Hassan: I think she has demonstrated a commitment always to something beyond herself, bigger than herself.

If you’re asked if the person you think should be the next President of the United States is honest and trustworthy, and you can’t answer, you should probably find another candidate for President.

Hassan is a longtime Clinton supporter, and was a pledged Clinton superdelegate even before the New Hampshire primary.

On Tuesday, Hassan clarified that she does indeed think Hillary Clinton is trustworthy.

Hillary Clinton has made a career out of lying, but her handling of her illegal email server highlights her duplicity. She lied about it. She lied about lying about it. And she lied about whether the FBI said she lied about it.

By the way, if anyone asks you if Hillary Clinton is honest and trustworthy, the correct answer is “No.”
