WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA) already voted in favor of Republicans’ clean government funding bill in the House of Representatives, and would have voted to reopen the government if in the Senate today. But Iowa Democrats running against her are eager to support Chuck Schumer’s shutdown and his radical demands that include $1.5 trillion in new spendingfunding free healthcare for illegal aliens, and cutting $50 billion in funding for rural hospitals provided by the Working Family Tax Cuts.

“Ashley Hinson has made it clear that she will always stand with President Trump and Iowans,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Samantha Cantrell. “Hinson voted to keep our government open, pay our service members, ensure our farmers have the resources they need, and secure veterans’ benefits. Meanwhile, Iowa Democrats are supporting Chuck Schumer’s government shutdown and his insane effort to give illegal aliens free healthcare.”

Schumer’s Shutdown is:

Democrats are demanding $1.5 trillion in spending increases to end the shutdown and to:

  • Cut $50 billion in rural healthcare funding
  • Restore Biden-era free healthcare for illegal aliens
  • Expand taxpayer-funded Medicaid to unemployed, able-bodied individuals without dependents under 14 years old
  • Eliminate Republican-passed fraud protections for taxpayer benefits like Medicaid and SNAP
