WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Senate is expected to vote on funding the federal government. Chuck Schumer’s hand-picked candidate in Maine, Janet Mills (D-ME), would be just another vote for Schumer’s reckless shutdown. Senate Democrats’ radical demands include $1.5 trillion in new spendingfree healthcare for illegal immigrants, and cutting $50 billion in funding for rural hospitals provided by the Working Family Tax Cuts.

“Janet Mills knows a government shutdown would hurt Mainers by leaving military families without pay and putting law enforcement lives in jeopardy,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Samantha Cantrell. “Mills has gladly pushed her radical agenda on Mainers for decades, and it would be no surprise if she stood with Schumer to hold the government hostage for a radical wishlist like free healthcare for illegal immigrants and cutting $50 billion in rural healthcare funding.”

  • Eliminate Republican-passed fraud protections for taxpayer benefits like Medicaid and SNAP
