Jason Kander is also a big fan of Hillary Clinton. So Jason Kander is in a pretty tough spot when Bill Clinton unleashes on the “awful legacy of the last eight years,” as he did in a speech earlier this week.

“If you believe we can all rise together, if you believe we’ve finally come to the point where we can put the awful legacy of the last eight years behind us and the seven years before that where we were practicing trickle-down economics with no regulation in Washington, which is what caused the crash, then you should vote for her.”
How does Kander square Clinton’s assessment of the Obama legacy with his own glowing praise for Obama’s leadership? Will he follow his liberal heart and defend the Obama presidency? Or will he execute another blatant flip-flop and side with Clinton out of political convenience?
- VIDEO: “We have a leader, I believe in President Obama. But what I like most about President Obama is that everybody is saying look: things are bad, let’s batten down the hatches, let’s curl up and let it pass. He’s doing what American politicians have not done in a long time, in which he’s saying you know, no, this is the time to be bold and recognize that we have these large problems so instead of just trying to weather these large problems, let’s try to fix these large problems on a permanent basis. So I recognize that’s going to cause a lot of people to be worried by the actions he takes, because they are big actions, but I also recognize that it’s a time where we really need bold actions.” (Kansas City After Hours’ YouTube Account, Jason Kander Interview, Published August 6, 2009, 5:00 Mark)
Just like his position on Guantanamo, don’t be surprised if Jason Kander tries to have it both ways when it comes to Barack Obama’s legacy. Kander’s lightning-speed flip-flops don’t change the fact that he’s a progressive liberal through and through – and a proud Obama supporter, despite his politically calculated rhetoric.
