Former Des Moines Public Schools Superintendent Ian Roberts is set to be sentenced today for falsely claiming to be a U.S. citizen and illegally possessing a firearm.
In the aftermath of Roberts’ arrest, the Iowa State Legislature passed critical legislation to ensure anyone working in schools is properly vetted beforehand. But Josh Turek and Zach Wahls both skipped this vote and have been silent on the incident.
“While Josh Turek and Zach Wahls refuse to vote on a bill to protect Iowa’s students from another Ian Roberts, Ashley Hinson is fighting to secure our borders and protect our communities,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Samantha Cantrell.
