WASHINGTON, D.C. — Ken Paxton’s personal lawyer and “longtime consigliere” is a Trump-hating Democrat with a radical client list. In addition to going on anti-Trump rants, he is busy representing his other clients, which include an international sex trafficker, a man who poisoned his pregnant wife and their unborn child, the “Muslim-centric,” EPIC City, and a man accused of killing four law enforcement officers.
“Ken Paxton has spent a decade working closely with a deranged Trump-hating liberal lawyer who has represented reprehensible clients like a man who poisoned his pregnant wife and their innocent unborn child,” said NRSC Communications Director Joanna Rodriguez. “President Trump has been the most pro-life President in American history, and for Ken Paxton to undermine that by supporting a liberal lawyer who wanted a man who poisoned a pregnant woman with abortion drugs to go free is disgusting.”
Ken Paxton has had a decade-long relationship with his Trump-hating lawyer despite his long list of liberal cases:
- Cogdell said that President Trump was the “greatest threat to democracy” and that President Trump wants to be a “dictator.”
- Cogdell said “you have to give the devil his due,” about President Trump and that President Trump was pardoning “fucking criminals.”
- Cogdell represents the “Muslim-centric,” EPIC City.
- Cogdell said that Sharia Law means “do the right thing,” and said anything else is “an alt-right dog whistle.”
- Cogdell said “we got too many Baptist Churches in East Texas, let’s go take down some of those, too.”
- Cogdell defended a man who was dosing his pregnant wife with abortion pills for weeks, pleading his client’s charges down from “assault to induce an abortion” to a single count of injury to a child under 15. Cogdell’s client was sentenced to just 180 days in jail.
- The woman’s child was born 10 weeks prematurely with “developmental delays” and needed to attend therapy eight times a week. The child was born at just over three pounds and needed a feeding tube to survive.
- Cogdell defended an international sex trafficker who ran more than six brothels. Cogdell got him off without jail time or a criminal conviction.
- Cogdell was proud to defend a Branch Davidian charged with killing four law enforcement officers at the Waco siege.
