Her blind partisan loyalty just backfired again, with Iran launching missiles this week carrying a message of open hostility to the United States and its allies:
Iran test-launched two ballistic missiles Wednesday emblazoned with the phrase ‘Israel must be wiped out’ in Hebrew, Iranian media reported, in a show of power by the Shiite nation as U.S. Vice President Joe Biden’s visited Jerusalem.
When Kirkpatrick pushed aside common sense to back the Obama-Iran nuclear deal in September, she laughably called for ‘more durable protections’ for the U.S. and American allies:
Global conflicts and rapid change demand stronger and more durable protections for our nation and allies… I believe we must do everything in our power, in concert with five of the world’s largest powers, to prevent a dangerous proliferation of nuclear weapons and a new war.
Even with Iran blowing a hole in her brazenly empty promises, Kirkpatrick has said nothing about the missile launch or Iran’s ongoing hostility to the United States. She even doubled down on the agreement after its devastating consequences were obvious:
- In February, Kirkpatrick Voted Against Restricting The President’s Ability To Lift Sanctions On Iran, Including Anyone Sanctioned With Ties To Iran’s Ballistic-Missile Program. “Passage of the bill that would restrict the president’s ability to lift sanctions on Iranian and other financial institutions, as called for by the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement, by requiring various certifications to Congress. Specifically, it would prohibit the president from removing the foreign financial institutions from the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Asset Control’s list of blocked nationals and persons until the president submits to Congress a certification that the institutions have not knowingly facilitated a significant transaction for Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, a foreign terrorist organization or anyone sanctioned in connection with Iran’s weapons of mass destruction and ballistic-missile programs.” (H.R. 3662, CQ Vote #54: Passed 246-181: R 243-0; D 3-181, 2/2/16, Kirkpatrick Voted Nay)
Congresswoman Kirkpatrick supported the Iran deal because she said it would make the world safer. Every piece of evidence points to the contrary. Kirkpatrick owes Arizona an explanation, but she’s nowhere to be found.
