WASHINGTON, D.C. — The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) released the following statement after Maine Democrats coronated Troy Jackson as their next U.S. Senate candidate:

“Troy Jackson lost his bid to be Governor and he will lose his bid to be Senator. Jackson is a Democrat socialist who has only made life harder in Maine, while Susan Collins has secured $1.5 billion in funding to benefit Mainers in all 16 counties,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Samantha Cantrell.

Troy Jackson has only made life harder in Maine:

  • Jackson’s socialist agenda of Medicare for All, Universal Basic Income, government-funded universal child care, and free public college would cost Mainers nearly $150 trillion.
  • Jackson is an ineffective legislator whose extreme, anti-growth proposals were so unpopular that even Janet Mills was forced to veto them.
  • Jackson voted for cost-hiking energy legislation that added $234 million to ratepayer bills in 2025 alone, sending Mainers’ utility bills soaring.
  • Jackson oversaw the systemic collapse of Maine’s public education system.  Maine’s public high schools plummeted from fifth best in the nation to dead last and Maine students posted their lowest reading and math scores in three decades.
  • Jackson has flip-flopped on so many issues he has been described as a “political chameleon” who ran first as Republican, then as an Independent, and now as a Democrat socialist.
  • Jackson is under scrutiny for a string of his own Graham Platner-like scandals, including a violent temper that led to him throwing a water bottle at a fellow female state senator “after he couldn’t persuade [Heather Sanborn] to vote his way.”
