Joe Manchin’s new campaign finance report is up and it confirms that his transformation into a Washington Democrat is complete.
Manchin’s report shows that he accepted at least $75,000 from his fellow Senate Democrats in the 2nd Quarter of 2017. Among those big donations is a contribution from Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley’s PAC, Opportunity and Renewal PAC, on June 30th. Just weeks before donating to Manchin, Merkley made headlines at a conference of liberal activists, where he set a goal of putting “every coal electricity generating plant in a museum.” Not a good look for Manchin if he intends to keep pretending to be a friend to working West Virginians.

“Senator Jeff Merkley declared war on coal back in May, but that didn’t stop Washington Joe Manchin from cashing a check from his PAC,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “How can West Virginians count on Joe Manchin to stand up to anti-coal liberals when he’s pocketing donations from them?”
