Today, Manchin voted against the confirmation of Judge Kevin Newsom to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. Newsom received overwhelming bipartisan support, and received the American Bar Association’s highest rating for judges of “Well Qualified.” Today’s vote against Newsom continues Manchin’s streak of voting against every Circuit Court judge nominated by President Trump. Earlier this year, Manchin voted against President Trump’s nominees to the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals, John Kenneth Bush and Amul Thapar. Someone should ask Joe Manchin why he refuses to confirm conservative judges to our appeals courts.
“West Virginians want conservative judges who will uphold their constitutional rights, including the 2nd Amendment, but Joe Manchin has voted no on every single Circuit Court nominee put forward by President Trump,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “Joe Manchin’s votes against President Trump’s judges prove that he is nothing more than a typical Washington Democrat.”
