Joe Manchin spent a lot of time over the past three months courting out-of-state millionaires, and it shows in his Q3 campaign finance report.
The report, covering July – September, shows that just 12% of Manchin’s individual contributions came from West Virginians. Manchin actually raised more money from both New York and California than he did from the Mountain State. This comes after Manchin reported just 3% of donations coming from West Virginia during the 1st Quarter of 2017.
“Joe Manchin’s dreadful in-state fundraising shows that the only people excited about his reelection campaign are millionaires and billionaires in New York and California,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “Manchin’s efforts to obstruct President Trump’s agenda may have earned him the adoration of these out-of-state donors, but West Virginians will hold him accountable in 2018.”
