Washington, D.C. – A 2009 lingerie party co-hosted by Mandela Barnes is under fresh scrutiny as election day draws near. A social media post about the party, that listed Barnes as a co-host, said “ratchets will be turned away” and bouncers would be “handin’ out free choke slams and sleeper holds” to men who showed up. The post also advertised prizes for women “going the hardest” in their Victoria’s Secret lingerie. EXCUSE ME?!

In 2018, Barnes said questions about the party were “ridiculous” and a “distraction.” Barnes seems to think that it’s totally normal behavior to host a lingerie party that boasts about assaulting people and turning away women based on their appearance.

Barnes has a history of downplaying his scandals. After failing to pay his taxes on time, he said not paying taxes is “a problem common to the average American: You get so busy campaigning for political office you forget to pay your property taxes.” As if every American can just ignore paying taxes because they’re busy.

Mandela Barnes is so out-of-touch that he thinks hosting lingerie parties and not paying taxes is just a day in the life of the average Wisconsinite. He’s not qualified to represent Wisconsin in the U.S. Senate.
