Something alarming is going on in the Democratic Party. Hillary Clinton encouraged Democrats to abandon civility until they won back Congress. Eric Holder told Democrats that “When they go low, we kick them.” Maxine Waters encouraged Democrats to attack Republicans in public anywhere they found them.
And now, Claire McCaskill has joined her fellow Democrats in going as low as humanly possible as her campaign sputters. Last night, McCaskill retweeted a blog post calling Josh Hawley’s young son a “prop,” and seeming to claim that Hawley was lying about his son’s diagnosis. Is there anything she won’t say to stay in office?
“Claire McCaskill’s bizarre decision to attack Attorney General Hawley’s family and belittle a child’s illness reeks of desperation,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “Instead of losing with some dignity, McCaskill has decided to follow national Democrats’ lead and plumb the very depths of incivility in the last weeks of her final campaign for office.”
