Claire McCaskill sure is doing her best to remind folks in Missouri that she’s a proud member of the Democratic Party elite in Washington. Just days after defending Hillary Clinton’s comments calling Heartland voters backwards and racist, McCaskill is bringing in former President Barack Obama to raise campaign cash.
Obama will appear at a fundraiser for McCaskill in Beverly Hills that features such big Hollywood names as Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg. While McCaskill will be all too happy to rake in the cash Obama raises for her, the real question is whether she will be willing to bring him to Missouri to campaign for her. Missouri voters have soundly rejected the former President and his policies, voting against Obama twice, and voting against his secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, by a 19-point margin in 2016. Will McCaskill have the guts to stand on a stage in Missouri with Obama? Or is she only comfortable appearing at private Hollywood fundraisers with him?
“Claire McCaskill is doing everything she can to remind Missouri voters that she’s spent her career in Washington standing with liberal politicians like Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, not with Missouri families,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “McCaskill can try to hide her continuing support for Obama at big money Hollywood fundraisers, but Missourians won’t forget her eight-year record of supporting all of his destructive policies.”
