McGinty is the Washington Democrat’s pick. In December, McGinty received holiday fundraising help from Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid. McGinty also received the backing of EMILY’s List.
Back in July, McGinty’s decision to run was touted as a “score for national Democrats” and her ties to Governor Wolf were said to “provide her with a fundraising network.”
Apparently, that’s not working out so well for McGinty.
While former Congressman Joe Sestak hasn’t announced his fundraising numbers yet, Sestak reported $2.4 million at the end of last quarter – that’s at least $1 million more than McGinty has on hand today.
This embarrassing fundraising quarter comes on the heels of several stories highlighting that Pennsylvania’s Democratic primary is growing increasingly messy.
McGinty may be the Washington establishment’s pick, but Pennsylvania voters are clearly rejecting her. Perhaps McGinty is on her way to a repeat of the 2014 gubernatorial primary where she finished dead last with less than 8% of the vote.
