Katie McGinty’s Iberdrola is back in the news after she incorrectly filed her PFD, drawing attention to the compensation she received as a board member in 2014, but leaving unanswered how much she received from the company between 2009 and 2014.
Iberdrola, however, is also in the news for other reasons. Ahead of this week’s climate talks in Paris, Iberdrola pledged their support for the conference and visited the White House to attend the White House Summit on Climate and the Road to Paris.
Shortly after, McGinty released a statement in support of the Paris conference and called for more subsidies for clean energy companies…like Iberdrola.
But this should come as no surprise. A recent Pittsburgh Post Gazette story shined a light on why McGinty was so eager to help companies like Iberdrola by giving them millions of dollars in governmnet handouts while she was DEP Secretary. Within a year of leaving her post at DEP, Iberdrola was lining McGinty’s pockets and would later support her campaign for Governor.
Another day, another spin through the revolving door.
“Katie McGinty is keeping a watchful eye out for those who line her pockets and fill her campaign war chest. If nothing else, McGinty knows that if she keeps it up, she’ll have a soft place to land when her Senate bid goes by way of her gubernatorial efforts.” – Alleigh Marré, NRSC National Press Secretary
