Bob Casey continued his strange lurch to the left today as he took to liberals’ favorite blog, the Huffington Post, to write about his support for the nation’s leading abortion provider, Planned Parenthood.
Casey, an allegedly “pro-life” Democrat, blogged about why he thinks taxpayers should be forced to send hundreds of millions of dollars to a private company that performs over 300,000 abortions each year. Senator Casey’s blogging is just the latest in a curious series of moves toward the liberal fringes of his party since last year’s election saw Pennsylvania elect Donald Trump as President, Pat Toomey as Senator, Republicans in 13 of 18 Congressional Districts, and Republican super majorities in both chambers of the General Assembly. These moves have not gone unnoticed, with Pennsylvania press calling Casey an “aggressive progressive,” and the New York Times detailing his transformation into the most boring member of the #resistance.
“It is astonishing how quickly Bob Casey abandoned his father’s moderate, pro-life legacy to fall in line with the liberal base,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “Bob Casey should enjoy his time as a darling of the far left, because Pennsylvanians won’t look kindly on his new persona when they head to the polls in 2018.”
