Thom Tillis is out with a new ad today about how he grew up paycheck-to-paycheck living in trailer parks and rental properties. His upbringing is a daily reminder of the families he is fighting for in the U.S. Senate.

On the other hand, his opponent James Calvin Cunningham III spent his summers strategizing “future state and national” political victories with his father’s lawyer friends at the Cunningham Brick Company family’s beach house. See for yourself here:

Twenty-five years later, the corporate attorney has very little to show for all that scheming. His unmemorable two-year term in the state senate was followed by a pathetic 2010 Senate primary loss despite major backing from the DSCC.

“James Calvin Cunningham III, Esq. has spent his entire life plotting to grasp political power and using family connections to lay the foundation for his political and legal career representing corporations,” said NRSC spokesperson Joanna Rodriguez. “North Carolina voters want someone who will fight for them, but Cunningham has proved repeatedly he’s only fighting for himself and he has no problem misleading voters to get what he wants.”
