WASHINGTON, D.C. — Michigan Democrat Senate candidates, Abdul El-Sayed and Haley Stevens, took the debate stage tonight for their first head to head match. Their messy primary was on full display as Bernie-backed El-Sayed surged to the left, forcing Chuck Schumer-backed Stevens on defense the majority of the time.

“Abdul El-Sayed is a radical socialist who wants to implement Medicare for All, abolish ICE, and defund the police. He represents the extreme Bernie-backed wing of the Democrat Party, and he must be defeated at all costs,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Samantha Cantrell.
