| WASHINGTON – A new report by the Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) shows the biggest winners under the Senate GOP tax relief plan are middle-class families. But nevertheless, Minority Leader Chuck Schumer continues to urge his party to obstruct at all costs.
Chuck Schumer is threatening his red state Democratic colleagues to vote against the GOP tax plan or face the political consequences of not following their liberal party leaders. But the JCT’s study is clear – the Senate tax relief plan is a major victory for middle-class families across the nation.
- In 2019, Americans earning between $50,000 and $70,000 would see their taxes drop by 7.1%
- In the same time, people earning between $20,000 and $30,000 would see a 10.4% drop in their taxes
It’s clear this bill will deliver needed relief to the pocketbooks of hardworking Americans everywhere. It’s time for red state Democrats to choose whether they will support middle-class families or be another rubber stamp for D.C. elites like Chuck Schumer and Elizabeth Warren.
“Chuck Schumer is giving his red state colleagues an ultimatum – follow me or face political consequences,” said NRSC Communications Director Katie Martin. “But red state Democrats’ choices should be clear – stand up for middle-class families and deliver major tax relief for hardworking Americans. If they don’t, voters will remember their Senator voted against a major tax break for the middle class.” |
