After spending months bashing the Republican tax cut plan, Claire McCaskill’s opposition looks even more foolish as Missouri businesses continue to put more money in employees’ pockets.

Springfield’s Great Southern Bancorp announced that it would provide bonuses to more than 1,200 employees, with a $1,000 payment going to full-time employees and a $500 payment to part-time employees. Great Southern joined other Missouri employers, including Commerce Bancshares and Kansas City Southern, in awarding similar bonuses as a direct result of the Republican tax cut plan. McCaskill’s decision to follow the lead of her liberal party bosses in Washington in their effort to derail the tax cut will continue to haunt her as the new tax rates take effect and put even more money in the pockets of Missourians.

“It’s clear that the Republican tax plan is working, and Missouri families are already seeing the economic benefits,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “Claire McCaskill’s decision to stand with Democrats in Washington against the tax cut will prove to be a costly mistake as Missourians continue to see more money in their paychecks and a booming economy in 2018.”
