The godfather of campaign finance reform is now dancing with the devil.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Mr. Clean now has a super PAC:

A new super PAC to turn out voters and elect Democrats in the fall election and beyond has hit the ground in Wisconsin. For Our Future, a super PAC, and For Our Future Action Fund, an allied 501(c)(4) that doesn’t have to disclose its donors, announced Friday they were launching operations in the state. The joint effort brings together billionaire environmental activist Tom Steyer and his NextGen Climate organization and four labor groups…Another targeted race is the contest between Democrat Russ Feingold and Republican U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson.

Here’s a reminder of how fervently Feingold used to despise the very practices he now stands to benefit from … before he launched a desperate campaign to return to Washington, DC:

  • In 2012, Feingold Said Democrats Who Embraced Super PACs Were “Dancing With The Devil.” (Sam Stein, “Russ Feingold: Obama Super PAC Reversal Will Lead To ‘A Legalized Abramoff System,’” The Huffington Post, 2/7/12)

  • In 2012, Feingold Said “The President Is Wrong To Have Embraced The Corrupt Corporate Politics Of Citizens United And That’s What You’re Doing When You Start Using And Consorting With Super PACs.” (Sam Stein, “Russ Feingold: Obama Super PAC Reversal Will Lead To ‘A Legalized Abramoff System,’” The Huffington Post, 2/7/12)

  • In 2012, Feingold Said “I Agree With The President On Ninety-Five Percent Of The Issues But I Surely Don’t Agree With The Super PAC.” (CBS’, “This Morning,” 2/22/12)

  • In 2012, Feingold Said He Didn’t Think Anybody Running For Office Should Be Involved With Super PACs “Because It Completely Cuts Out The Average Person From The Political Process.” (CNN’s, “Piers Morgan Tonight,” 2/20/12)

  • In 2010, Feingold Said He Would “Absolutely” Rather Lose Than See Outside Groups Airing Ads On His Behalf. (Ben Smith, “Russ Feingold’s Last Stand,” Politico, 10/31/10)

Back in 2012, Mr. Clean also warned President Obama that he "doesn’t need" a super PAC because "he can win without this unlimited money."

Therefore, by his own measure, Senator Feingold is admitting that he cannot win without this influx of unlimited cash soaked in decades of hypocrisy.

Should Mr. Clean have some free time as he travels around the country to break more of his promises to the people of Wisconsin, here are some venues in Russ Feingold hotspots where he can go dancing with the devil:
