Tammy Baldwin just proved to Wisconsin voters that they are not the voice she is representing in Washington with her decision to vote against confirming Betsy DeVos as Education Secretary. Instead, Tammy showed everyone that the DC unions are in charge. This shouldn’t come as a huge surprise seeing Tammy has taken over $136,000 from national teachers’ unions during her lengthy stay in Washington.
While our students are falling behind and the student debt crisis reaches an all-time high, Tammy Baldwin would rather listen to the will of her campaign contributors than get results for the country’s children.
“Tammy Baldwin was elected to be a voice for Wisconsin families, but her failure to work to better our nation’s education system shows that her only concern is being a voice for the folks who bankroll her campaign,” said NRSC Communications Director Katie Martin. “Wisconsinites should take note that Tammy Baldwin would rather represent the special interest groups who make huge donations to her campaign than stand up for students and families.”
