WASHINGTON – After Senate Democrats voted to shut down the government and strip health insurance coverage from 8.9 million children, the NRSC is launching a new ad campaign highlighting the real effects of the Schumer Shutdown.
The campaign will target all 10 red state Democrats who either voted for the shutdown or have been unwilling to end it. The Facebook auto-play ads will remind voters of the real effects of Democrats shutting the government down as part of their partisan games, including the expiration of CHIP and loss of funding for our troops. The ads will run in the Senators’ home states.

“Senate Democrats shut down the government for purely political reasons, but their partisan games will have real consequences for our troops, children and senior citizens,” said NRSC Communications Director Katie Martin. “The Schumer Shutdown threatens health insurance for 8.9 million children and cuts off funding for critical national security and domestic programs, and voters will hold red state Democrats accountable in November.”
