The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) released a new digital ad today calling out Jon Ossoff’s government shutdown that will hurt Georgia veterans and service members. Ossoff’s shutdown will shutter benefits officesclose VA hotlines, leave military families without pay, and threaten vital healthcare and housing programs for veterans

“Jon Ossoff talks a big game to Georgia veterans when the cameras are rolling, but when free healthcare for illegals is on the line, he betrays them in Washington,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia. “Ossoff won’t have to deal with the consequences of his shutdown, but Georgia’s men and women in uniform will.”

Background:

  • Ossoff previously voted to shut down the government, delay paychecks to military service members, and risk veterans’ healthcare.
  • Ossoff also voted to shut down the federal government earlier this year.
  • Ossoff used veterans as political props when he voted against funding for military pay raises but took credit anyways.
  • Ossoff lied to Georgia veterans about “championing” the VA Home Loan Reform Act when in reality, he had nothing to do with the bill.

TRANSCRIPT

Voice Over: “When the cameras were rolling, Jon Ossoff used veterans to score political points, taking credit for a bill he had nothing to do with.

“Days later, Ossoff stabbed our veterans in the back, voting with Schumer to shut down the government.

“Because to Ossoff, free healthcare for illegals is the priority.

“But veterans, he couldn’t care less.

“That means benefits office shuttered.

“Hotlines unanswered.

“And life-saving services denied.

“Jon Ossoff: stealing valor at our veterans’ expense.”
