WASHINGTON, D.C. — The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) released a new digital ad today exposing Democrat Roy Cooper for fighting to put men back in women’s bathrooms. Nine years ago today, then-Governor Cooper signed legislation repealing North Carolina law that prevented men from using women’s bathrooms.

“For nearly 40 years, Roy Cooper has fought to transition North Carolina to Democrats’ woke agenda. Cooper promised the radical left he would ensure men could use women’s bathrooms, and he delivered for they/them,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia

Transcript:

Roy Cooper: “It’s important that we remove this horrible requirement that transgender people had to go to the restroom of their birth certificate.

“It is a stain on our great state’s reputation and it’s got to be wiped out.

“One of the most discriminatory laws in the country… and it is wrong. Period.

“House Bill 2 created a misguided, unworkable, and unnecessary requirement that individuals use the bathroom that matched the gender on their birth certificate.

“And I could not tolerate having House Bill 2 be the law of the land in North Carolina. I could not tolerate it another minute.”

Background:

  • As Attorney General, Cooper refused to defend House Bill 2 and called the legislation “unconstitutional.”
  • Cooper campaigned for Governor on the promise to repeal HB2.
  • Cooper, a multimillionaireworked with woke out of state CEOs who wanted to repeal HB2 and threatened to inflict economic pain on North Carolina.
  • But now Cooper doesn’t want to talk about HB2, refusing to speak with the Washington Post about fighting the legislation.
  • Cooper literally ran away when asked why he supports biological males in women’s sports and refused to say how many genders there are.
  • Cooper vetoed legislation banning biological males from women’s sports and barring children from receiving gender mutilation surgeries.
