If Bob Menendez thinks his corruption trial ending in a mistrial is the end of his troubles, he has some bad news coming his way.
While still not legally out of the woods, Menendez remains in hot water with New Jersey voters. According to a Quinnipiac University Poll last month, Just 19% of New Jersey voters say Menendez deserves to be reelected, with 59% saying he does not. Menendez’s job approval is also underwater with 31% approving and 49% disapproving. While a jury could not agree whether or not Menendez was guilty of bribery, fraud, and other crimes related to his corruption, New Jersey voters clearly agree that he should not continue to serve in the United States Senate.
“After hearing details of Bob Menendez’s corruption during his bribery trial, New Jerseyans are disgusted,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “If Menendez chooses to run for reelection, New Jersey voters will reject him.”
