Former North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper has gone notably silent about his friend Kamala Harris since launching his own Senate campaign. But Harris hasn’t been quiet about Cooper.The National Republican Senatorial Committee released a new artificial intelligence-generated video featuring audio of Harris praising Cooper at a recent book tour event in North Carolina.
“The thing that I really admire and love about Roy is that Roy stood with
courage and conviction and fought the good fight,” said Harris.
In audio obtained exclusively by InsiderWire, Harris fondly recalled that she and Cooper “served together” as Attorneys General of California and North Carolina respectively.Cooper has come under increased scrutiny for agreeing to release 3,500 criminals from prison early, including murderers and sex-offenders.
“He’s going to be an extraordinary leader” in the U.S. Senate, Harris added.In 2024, Cooper endorsed Harris, praised her from the stage at the Democratic National Convention, and landed on her short list for vice president before pulling his name. He was also among her first calls after Joe Biden dropped out of the race. Cooper has openly bragged about their friendship, which dates back to their days as state attorneys general.
