The video notes that Bayh has been passed over multiple times for a Vice Presidential pick – and even angled for Hillary Clinton’s VP spot before deciding to launch his Senate campaign. With Tim Kaine taking the stage later today at the Democrats’ national convention, Bayh is surely feeling a little sting after being relegated to running for the job he held before he became a corporate lobbyist.

Bayh has angled for a VP slot at least three other times during his political career without ever quite making the cut. Looking for a path back to power, Bayh decided to run for Senate after it became clear he would soon go 0-for-4.
It wasn’t for lack of trying. The consummate Washington insider pulled all the right strings for Clinton but came up empty. Now he can explain to Hoosiers that he’s settling for the Senate because, once again, he couldn’t score the top prize.

Bayh Said Clinton Is “Smart, She’s Tough, She’ll Be A Fighter For Working Men And Women, Middle-Class Hoosier Families. … And She’s Got The Right Policies.” “Clinton, a former secretary of state, senator and first lady, is ‘smart, she’s tough, she’ll be a fighter for working men and women, middle-class Hoosier families. … And she’s got the right policies,’ Bayh said.” (Brian Francisco, “Bayh Ready To Return To State, Stump For Clinton,” The Journal Gazette, 4/15/16)
Bayh Called The Investigation Of Hillary’s Private Email Server “A Distraction”
In February 2016, Bayh Called Hillary Clinton’s Email Investigation “A Distraction” And Said “The Election Is Really Not Going To Be About Whether She Should Have Been Using Two Cell Phones As Opposed To One.” KENT: “Final question. Are you worried about the e-mail situation as the FBI and Department of Justice continue to investigate the servers and the classified e-mails?” BAYH: “I’m worried about it because it’s a distraction. It’s taking a lot of time. There is only so much time to go…” KENT: “You don’t think there is legitimacy to this investigation.” BAYH: “Well, I mean, questions have been raised. I can’t say they’re illegitimate. I ultimately don’t think they are going to go anywhere. So, the ultimate issue is, I don’t think there will be an indictment. The election is really not going to be about whether she should have using two cell phones as opposed to one. It’s going to be about middle class economic issues and how we, number one, move this country forward economically. And number two, how we defend this country in a dangerous world that has suicidal terrorists who are out to get us. Those are the two big issues I think people will focus on.” (Fox Business Channel’s, “Risk & Reward,” 2/8/16)
