According to a new report from the White House Council of Economic Advisors, the government shutdown being led by Jon Ossoff will have devastating consequences for Georgia families, businesses, and workers.

Ossoff and Senate Democrats voted to shut down the federal government and demand a radical wishlist that included $1.5 trillion in new spendingfunding free healthcare for illegal immigrants, and cutting $50 billion in funding for rural hospitals provided by the Working Family Tax Cuts. Ossoff has repeatedly voted to shut down the government, delaying paychecks to military service members, and risking veterans’ healthcare.

Thanks to Ossoff for choosing to shut down the government, Georgia will see:

  • 1,400 jobs lost
  • 109,000 federal workers furloughed or forced to work without pay
  • 13,200 Social Security checks delayed
  • 231,000 Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program benefits halted
  • $131 million worth of small business loans frozen
  • $312 million cut to federal contract spending
  • $1 billion in consumer spending will fall each month

“Jon Ossoff’s hatred for President Trump and loyalty to his radical Democrat base is so severe that he’s inflicting massive pain on Georgia small businesses, vulnerable women and children, and hard-working Georgians all to fight for free healthcare for illegal aliens,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia.
