As Joe Manchin desperately tries to convince West Virginians he’s somehow different than his fellow Senate Democrats, he’s getting some help he’d probably rather not receive from 2020 hopeful Kirsten Gillibrand.
In an interview with New York Magazine, Gillibrand, best known as the ringleader for the Abolish ICE crowd, was asked about Manchin and gave the Democratic Senator her full-throated backing, saying, “So I think you win some, you lose some, but to have someone with you there nine out of ten times makes a huge difference. And to have someone who shares your fundamental values also makes a huge difference.”
And Gillibrand is right. Manchin has always been there when the Democrats need him. Manchin was a key backer of both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton during their runs for President, and he voted with Obama 83% of the time. That’s why Washington Democrats like Gillibrand back Manchin – he’s one of them.
