After President Trump came to town and reminded Tennessee voters that Phil Bredesen is nothing but a “tool” for Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, Bredesen is desperately trying to distance himself from the toxic Democratic brand.

During an appearance yesterday on Knoxville’s WOKI, Bredesen was asked if he was recruited by Chuck Schumer and flat-out lied replying, “not at all.” It seems Bredesen has completely forgotten that only a few short months ago the New York Times reported he was ‘courted personally’ by the New York liberal.

Bredesen’s sudden aversion to Schumer and national Democrats might have to do with his realization that his record of giving nearly $330,000 to liberal Democrats and repeatedly supporting their out-of-touch positions on issues, like tax cuts and immigration, won’t work in a state President Trump won by 26 points. In the meantime, voters will get to sit back and watch as Bredesen futilely attempts to alter history and erase his ties to the Democratic Party.
