Phil Bredesen is out with a new ad portraying himself as a moderate centrist who has no intention of running against President Trump, but his record tells a different story.

During the 2016 election, Bredesen and his wife went all in for Hillary Clinton, contributing more than $46,000 to Clinton’s campaign and its affiliated organizations. So Bredesen can say all he wants about supporting President Trump, but the facts show he is another left-wing Democrat opposed to the President’s policies. He’s even hired a former Clinton staffer to help run his campaign. In a state President Trump won by 26 points, Bredesen’s ardent support for Clinton and her out of touch policies is not going to sit well with voters.

“Phil Bredesen has made a career of trying to elect liberal Democrats, who are out of touch with Tennessee values, and his own campaign for Senate is no different,” said NRSC Spokesman Michael McAdams. “Bredesen can try to pretend he’ll work with President Trump, but voters are going to be reminded that Bredesen was one of Hillary Clinton’s biggest supporters, he was handpicked to run by Chuck Schumer, and he’s already rejected the tax cuts championed by President Trump.”
