Heidi Heitkamp is out with a new ad touting how she votes with President Trump over 50% of the time and “that made a lot of people mad.” And she’s right, North Dakotans are furious that on the issues most important to them, Heitkamp has opposed President Trump and voted against North Dakota.
Whether it was her vote against the middle-class tax cuts that are delivering bigger paychecks to hardworking North Dakotans, or her opposition to cracking down on sanctuary cities, when push comes to shove, Heitkamp has consistently backed liberal Washington Democrats instead of her constituents. Not to mention that Heitkamp voted with former President Obama 88% of the time.
So, while Heitkamp brags about her support for President Trump, the reality is that in a state he won by 36 points, only supporting him half the time is not nearly enough.
