Washington, D.C. – This past weekend at a Polk County GOP dinner, NRSC Chairman Rick Scott awarded the ‘Champion for Freedom’ award to former Iowa Speaker of the House and current Iowa Republican Party Co-chair Linda Upmeyer.

Statement from Chairman Rick Scott: “After becoming Chairman of the NRSC, I created the Champion for Freedom award to recognize hardworking Republicans across the country who have been strong advocates for freedom and the values that make our Party great. I was honored to present this award to Linda Upmeyer in Iowa alongside my friend, Senator Joni Ernst. Linda was the first female Speaker in Iowa’s history and now as the co-chair of the state’s Republican Party, she is focused on helping elect strong conservative leaders to get our country back on track. I have no doubt Linda will relentlessly fight to make sure Iowa’s very own Chuck Grassley has a big win in 2022 and that we keep Iowa red.”
