Today, Jon Ossoff (D-GA) flip-flopped on his support of the Laken Riley Act after voting against the legislation last year. Laken was a Georgia nursing student who was murdered by an illegal immigrant. The bipartisan legislation would require the detainment of illegal migrants accused of theft, burglary and other related crimes. Ossoff is up for re-election in 2026.

“After 22-year-old college student Laken Riley was brutally murdered by an illegal immigrant, Jon Ossoff stood with the far-left of his party in opposition to the legislation that would have stopped it from happening to other innocent victims,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia. “Now that Ossoff is up for re-election, he flipped his vote in a desperate attempt to save his job. It won’t be enough. Georgia deserves a Senator that will fight for them always.”
