Today, Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) flip-flopped on her support of the Laken Riley Act after voting against the legislation last year. The bipartisan legislation would require the detainment of illegal migrants accused of theft, burglary and other related crimes. Shaheen is up for re-election in 2026.

“After 22-year-old college student Laken Riley was brutally murdered by an illegal immigrant, Jeanne Shaheen voted against the Laken Riley Act which would stop tragedies like this from happening again,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia. “Flipping her vote today is political hypocrisy at its worst. Granite Staters’ safety isn’t a political football, and the time to hold Shaheen accountable for her failures is coming.”
