The ads, “Inept” and “Question,” are part of the NRSC’s significant advertising reservation and are running in the Boston DMA.

Inept” focuses on the $36 million contract Maggie Hassan awarded to Dartmouth-Hitchcock for staffing needs at New Hampshire Hospital, the state-run psychiatric facility. The contract was awarded after the company’s executives donated thousands of dollars to Hassan’s campaign and in the midst of a labor dispute. The dispute led to the departure of several employees resulting in the closing of nine psychiatric beds at another facility to cover the staffing shortage at New Hampshire Hospital, affecting the quality of care for patients. Despite these concerns, a multi-million-dollar contract was awarded to Dartmouth-Hitchcock, and days later, the company announced they would lay off hundreds of employees.

Question” emphasizes Maggie Hassan’s mismanagement of the state’s heroin crisis. Hassan’s failure is highlighted by a mother, Susan, who lost her twenty-five-year-old son to heroin addiction.

SCRIPT, Inept:

Victoria: “Maggie Hassan’s priority is not the safety and welfare of the patients at New Hampshire hospital.

“For months we’ve tried to warn her that they didn’t have adequate staffing to take care of those patients.

“As to the layoffs of up to 460 people, if Maggie Hassan knew about it, she’s corrupt. If she didn’t know about it, she’s inept.

“Maggie Hassan puts politics over people.”

SCRIPT, Question:

Susan: “I lost my younger son at age twenty-five from a heroin addiction.
“Our whole family – it brought us to our knees when we lost him

“What I would like my question answered from Maggie Hassan – why are our families and our people sending their loved ones out of this state to get the help they need?

“She didn’t see it.

“She didn’t see the full force of this – the people that we were losing.

“In my whole heart, she hasn’t done her job. And that’s how I feel about it.”
